THE HAGUE – Dutch State Secretaries Sharon Dijksma of Economic Affairs (EZ) and Wilma Mansveld of Infrastructure and Environment (I&M) have presented Parliament with a 16 page letter, ‘Kamerbrief’, describing how to manage and maintain biodiversity in the (Caribbean) Netherlands.
Action point six of the document mentions the establishment of a sanctuary for marine mammals and sharks within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Saba and St. Eustatius.
Action point 14 of the document mentions the continuation of the TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity) study for Saba and St. Eustatius in 2014. This study was done for Bonaire in 2012 and has proved very successful.
